Four Real Madrid players stayed a few more minutes at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium after the resounding 0-4 defeat against FC Barcelona as a gesture to apologize to the fans who witnessed a win against their staunch rival.
Federico Valverde, Thibaut Courtois, David Alaba and Eder Militao were the players who stayed tafter the defeat and who were responsible for one of the worst games of the season for the meringues.
After FC Barcelona beat Real Madrid by 4 goals to 0 at the Santiago Bernabéu, defender Nacho Fernández had to assume the role of team captain after Karim Benzema was dropped and with some sporting embarrassment, he accepted the defeat of his team against a rival that showed great technical strength.
Although the defeat was surprising due to the number of goals and the good moment Real Madrid is in, Nacho made no excuses after what happened. “It was a very bad game for us and a very good one for Barça. The result says it all“, commented the Madrid youth squad.
Both Nacho, Alaba and Militao were portrayeds in several plays of the goals where the superiority of the Catalan team that overwhelmed the meringues was observed and that allows the other teams to continue fighting for the title.
Carlo Ancelotti, coach of Real Madrid, assumed responsibility of the win conceded in the classic against Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu, by admitting that he failed in his approach.
“The approach has not been good and it has not gone well, I have not planned it well to win the game. Barcelona has been better and deserved to win, I have no problem taking responsibility because I failed in this game”, he assured at a press conference.
“I’m not doing drama, it’s a defeat that sinks us because we know how important the match against Barcelona is, for the fans above all. We are very sorry but we have to keep going, train well and be calm, balanced. This defeat sinks us but we have a nine point advantage over the second and we have to have balance, ”he added.
