Andy Ruiz lost several positions in the heavyweight rankings of the World Boxing Council (WBC) and fell from step number two to five after having been away from the ring for more than a year and not being able to find an opponent.

According to the boxing organization’s update on its website, Ruiz is now behind the champion Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua, Arslanbek Makhmudov and Frank Sánchez. The Destroyer was in negotiations to face The Gipsy King and The Bronze Bomber to return to action this year, but both failed because they could not reach a financial agreement.

After the WBC ordered the fight between Wilder and Andy Ruiz so that the winner would become Fury’s mandatory challenger, both former champions They were provoking each other in interviews and social networks in order to finalize the fight, but without success.

According to the Mexican-American’s father and manager, Deontay Wilder offered him only 30% of the purse and They wanted to receive 50% to accept the fight ($10 million dollars). The Bronze Bomber assured that Ruiz did not have a level to compare with him, so the Mexican American team’s request for 50-50 was not possible. After failing to reach an agreement, the WBC canceled the tie.

It should be noted that Andy Ruiz also challenged Tyson Fury, but The champion rejected the fight because The Destroyer asked for $20 million dollars to confront him, an amount that seemed absurd to The Gipsy King.

For now, The Mexican-American still has not finalized a return fight for this seasonbut according to promoter Eddie Hearn, if Wilder and Joshua do not finalize the denials, Ruiz could be one of the options to choose for the next duel of the British boxer whom he has already faced twice with one victory per side.
