The Administration of President Joe Biden increased the purchase of COVID-19 pills to 20 million, in order to reduce serious cases in hospitals.

The decision follows other steps the Biden Administration has taken, including purchasing 500 million tests and rebooting the vaccination plan so that more people get their first and booster doses as soon as possible.

The president confirmed the decision on Twitter, where he noted that the pill “dramatically” reduces severe cases and prevents hospitalizations and deaths, for which he described it as an element that will change “the game” against the pandemic.

President Biden delivered his message after a meeting with the White House Pandemic Task Force, which is coordinated by Jeff Zients and with central counsel from the Dr. Anthony Fauci.

“Let’s see, as everyone has been hearing, there is a continuous increase in cases. Omicron is very transmittable, ”Biden said.

He insisted that the best option against the coronavirus is vaccination, so he also recalled that there are more than 90,000 points where the first doses and boosters are applied.

“We have booster shots for the entire nation. You can still get COVID, but it is very unlikely that you will get seriously ill, “he insisted. “If you are vaccinated and with a booster dose you are highly protected. Worry about Ómicron, don’t be alarmed. “

He also asked parents to vaccinate their eligible children, who are from 5 to 12 years old, in addition to protecting the little ones.

“For people with children too young to get vaccinated, I surrounded their children with people who are vaccinated,” she implored.
