Casemiro responds to criticism of his level at Manchester United: Am I worthless now? – The opinion

Casemiro, Manchester United midfielder, spoke about the criticism he has received this season and asked himself: “Last season I was one of the best signings in the Premier League, now I’m worthless?”

“At the beginning of the season they gave me the trophy for best player of the month, the fans. Then I suffered a major injury, came back and got injured again. Now I’m playing as a center back… It’s difficult, we have had injuries, the coach has never had the 25 available. It is very difficult for the club,” said the Brazilian on the Sky Sports network.

Casemiro responded to criticism from Jamie Carragher, a commentator on the same network, who suggested that he leave football before football leaves him.

“Criticism is part of the game and I have always been very calm with it. When constructive criticism is welcome. In football, when you have spent ten years at the highest level, if you lower the level a little the criticism will come, but the moment they disrespect me, I think it is not right. That’s when I lose respect for those people,” he added.

“Last season I was considered one of the best signings in the Premier, and now, Am I no longer worth anything? The criticism has been disrespectful, so when I am disrespected it seems worrying to me and I have no reason to respect it.”

Manchester United out of Europe

Manchester United is out of European competitions after a terrible season. Erik Ten Hag’s team is in eighth place, far from the fifth place that gives qualification to the Europa League.

United was 10 points away from fourth place, a team that had 14 defeats during the season, the most among the top 10 in the table.

United went from playing in the Champions League this year to being left without qualifying opportunities.

The Red Devils will be able to win a title in the FA Cup final, next week against Manchester City, four-time Premier League champion team.
