Concacaf condemned attacks and insults among fans during the Nations League final – La Opinion


The North American, Central American and Caribbean Football Confederation criticized the behavior of a group of fans who gave a negative note on Sunday during the final of the Nations League that ended with a victory for the United States over Mexico (2-0).

Through a statement, Conmebol expressed its disapproval of the violent events that occurred in the stands of the AT&T Stadium in Texas where there were blows between Mexican and American fans. The events were recorded by fans and uploaded to social networks.

In one of the videos, which went viral while the decisive match was still taking place, you can see a stadium security agent staying away from the attacks between fans that little by little increased in intensity and participants. .

The statement they published on Conmebol’s social networks after the violent events that occurred during the Nations League final last Sunday at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.

Even the match that was decided in favor of the United States National Team had to be stopped twice due to the repeated chants made by Mexican fans without paying attention to the warnings of the application of the FIFA protocol to combat discrimination.

Gianni Infantino was “disappointed”

The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, published on his social networks a message of reproach for the acts of violence and discrimination that occurred in the final of the Nations League between Mexico and the United States and showed his concern taking into account that both countries will host of the 2026 World Cup.

“I was extremely disappointed by the discriminatory chants during the Concacaf Nations League final between the 2026 FIFA World Cup co-hosts the United States and Mexico, which led to the temporary interruption of the match on more than one occasion, in accordance with the first phase of the FIFA three-step protocol”wrote the boss of world football.

Additionally, the United States will host the Copa América that will be played between next June and July, an event that will serve as a rehearsal for the World Cup that will be held in a couple of years between Mexicans, Americans and Canadians.
