The National Association of Actors (ANDA) confirmed, this Wednesday, the death of actor and composer Jorge Zamora Montalvo, better known as “Zamorite“, who was 94 years old. The cause of his death is not yet known.
“The National Association of Actors deeply regrets the death of our colleague Jorge Zamora Montalvo “Zamorita” a member of our union. Our condolences to his family and friends. Rest in Peace,” the Association wrote on its Twitter account.
The actor born in Havana, Cuba, on April 19, 1928, began his artistic career as a composer where songs such as: “La Basura”, “Mr. Judge” and “Bómboro Quiñá Quiñá”, which was one of the great musical triumphs of La Sonora Santanera.
Also a comedian, he discovered his artistic vocation in the mid-1940s. He began to get involved in the show thanks to his first musical compositions, which led him to meet German Valdes “Tin Tan”who was in charge of bringing him to Mexico so that they could start working together.
His first appearances were in the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema; Thanks to his participation in ‘El Pachuco de Oro’, the Cuban began to gain popularity.
“Zamorita” was one of the comic pioneers of the small screen, since at the end of the 50s he began working on television together with Los Polivoces and Manuel “El Loco” Valdés.
His last appearance in a project was in the film ‘El Fantástico Mundo de Juan Orol’, released in 2012.
