Puerto Rican singer Daddy Yankee was firm in his words after Puerto Rico was eliminated by Mexico in the Quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic. The interpreter of ‘Gasolina’, who serves as ambassador of the World Cup event held in Miami, sent a message to both teams after the end of the qualifying game.
“Congratulations to the Mexican team, really good baseball was played tonight. We Puerto Ricans are gentlemen in victory and also in defeat: so we congratulate that great team from Mexico, health and life always”, he expressed towards the Mexican team that advanced to the semifinals.
He also sent a strong message of support to his team. “Thanks to my people, to the Puerto Rican team for this worthy representation, thank you for uniting the island through sports. We love you very much and we are proud of you, thank you for the sacrifice you make for the country, for representing the island. Puerto Rico, forward all the time,” said the Puerto Rican music star from Loandepot Park in the city of Miami, home of the World Classic in the city.
At the beginning of the World Cup, Daddy Yankee was named ambassador of the World Baseball Classic. The Puerto Rican declared that now that he has finished his farewell tour of the world of music, he will venture much more into the world of sports.
“This is what I am going to be doing now that my stage in music is over, I already have my baseball team in Puerto Rico (Cangrejeros de Santurce) and every time I’m going to be more involved in what has to do with sports”, said the interpreter of ‘The new and the ex’ in the company of David Ortiz, the Dominican member of the Hall of Fame.
