Everything is set for “Star Wars” Daisy Ridley to star in the new mystery series “The Christie Affair.” It is a historical fiction novel about the highly publicized affair of mystery novelist Agatha Christie’s husband.
The series is based on Nina de Gramont’s best-selling novel of the same name, which reimagines the unexplained 11-day disappearance of author Agatha Christie in 1926. Ridley will also be listed as an executive producer on the Miramax TV project, Collider noted.
The drama is told from the perspective of Christie’s husband’s lover, who will be played by Ridley.
According to the information, in real life, Christie disappeared from December 3 to 14, 1926 and reappeared later claiming to not remember what had happened to him. Christie had left in the night and her car was found soon after, but it was almost two weeks before the author reappeared. One theory is that Ella Christie left to avoid the misfortune of her husband’s affair, but she reconsidered and returned after learning that a manhunt was launched to find her.
The novel became a number one bestseller in the UK and was promoted in the US by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine Book Club.
As you may recall, this is the second time that Ridley has crossed paths with Christie. He previously appeared in “Murder on the Orient Express,” a film adaptation of one of Christie’s best-known novels.
“The Christie Affair” was published in February 2022. It was a number one bestseller in the UK and was on the New York Times bestseller list.
