donald trump referred to the private meeting he had with the rapper Kanye Westto whom he offered advice on his intention to run for president of the United States in 2024.
“So I help a man with serious problems, who happens to be black, Ye (Kanye West), who has been decimated in his business and pretty much everything else, and who has always been good to me, allowing his request for a meeting at Mar-a-Lago (Trump’s Florida residence), alone , so I can give you some much-needed ‘advice’“, wrote the former president in Truth Social.
“He shows up with three people, two of whom he didn’t know, the other a politician I haven’t seen in years. I told him not to run for the election, a total waste of time, he can’t win“he added.
Far-right rapper and political commentator Nick Fuentes, who has been called a white supremacist for his comments and who also attended the meeting, were caught walking together last Tuesday at the Miami International Airport.
Kanye, a candidate for the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential election and who wanted Trump as vice president, also tweeted that he was going to meet with the mogul.
On Thursday, Kanye posted a video announcing his 2024 candidacy and mentioned his meeting with Trump and Fuentes.
As a consequence, Trump issued a first statement in which he had omitted the presence of the commentator.
“Kanye West really wanted to visit Mar-a-Lago. Our meeting at dinner was meant to be just me and Kanye, but he showed up with a guest he’d never met and knew nothing about.“he reported then.
The former president was heavily criticized by the White House and part of his own Republican party for having dinner this week with rapper Kanye West and a white supremacist.
“Bigotry, hate and anti-Semitism have no place in the United States, not even at Mar-a-Lago,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said.
