The Khalifa International Stadium witnessed one of the most transcendental matches of the Qatar 2022 World Cup so far. Ecuador and Senegal closed group A with a match that defined the second classified in the sector. Gustavo Alfaro’s set lost 1-2 with the African team and says goodbye to the World Cup. The Netherlands and Senegal are classified from group A.
The duel between Africans and South Americans was highly studied in the first 25 minutes. Ecuador and Senegal reached the rival goals, but they did not generate major dangers in their attacks. For much of the game it seemed that Aliou Cissé won the strategic battle against Gustavo Alfaro. Even though Ecuador controlled the ball, their attacks really weren’t all that dangerous. Only three shots during the entire game led to the goal.
Finally, Senegal managed to control the match and keep the result. Ecuador lost 1-2 and thus says goodbye to the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Gustavo Alfaro’s ensemble leaves with a record of a victory, a draw and this last defeat that condemned them in the World Cup.
