Filed yesterday in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California (San Francisco Division), four new subpoena requests were filed for the DMCA pursuant to 17 US Code § 512(H). This section of copyright law allows a rights holder to obtain a subpoena to help identify an alleged infringer.
The four summons requests of the DMCA are addressed to four users who allegedly violated the copyright of Cognosphere. They were all introduced by Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLPthe same Los Angeles law firm that previously attacked Ubatcha.
Before submitting applications for these subpoenas of DMCAthe lawyers of Cognosphere submitted copyright complaints to Discord requesting the removal of several pieces of content. The removal notice DMCA in this case it is dated January 11, 2023 and the subpoena request itself is dated January 12.

As of this writing, the court clerk has yet to sign off on the applications, which means that Discord has yet to file any documents. However, it is more than likely that the applications will be approved today or in the next few days. At that time, Discord must comply with the aforementioned.
Both Discord and Cognosphere video game leaks that explicitly mention that it is illegal to share classified information are taken very seriously, because this breaks confidentiality contracts when it comes to being able to play an early version of any video game.
