With the cooling effect, the temperature of the intake air is reduced between 60 and 75 Fº. This, in turn, increases the density of the air and subsequently a higher concentration of oxygen inside the cylinder. This generates additional energy.
By the standard rule of thumb, every 10F reduction in intake charge temperature causes a 1% increase in horsepower. For example, a 350 HP engine with a 70 F intake temperature drop will gain about 25 HP from the cooling effect alone.
