The actress, producer and screenwriter Kirstie Alleystar of hit series such as ‘Look Who’s Talking’, ‘Cheers’ and ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous’, died Monday at the age of 71, his family revealed in a press release.
Their children, True and Lillie Parker, announced that the actress died after a brief battle with cancer, which was unknown to most of the public.
“We are saddened to inform you that our amazing, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a recently discovered battle with cancer.“, said the relatives in the statement, disseminated on networks.
“She was surrounded by her closest family and she fought very hard, leaving us with the certainty of her endless joy of life and the adventures that lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more incredible mother and grandmother.”
The brothers recalled the “enthusiasm and passion for life of their mother, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her undying joy of creating. She was unparalleled and left uninspired to live life to the fullest just as she did.” They also thanked the “incredible team of doctors and nurses” at Moffitt Cancer Center.
The statement concludes with True and Lillie releasing a message to Alley’s fans, whom they thank. “Your love and prayers, and we ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time.”.
One of Kirstie Alley’s close friends, the actor John Travoltapaid tribute to him on social media following the news of his death. The two worked together on the ‘Look Who’s Talking’ trilogy.
“Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you, Kirstie.”Travolta shared along with a photo of the actress. “I know we will see each other again”.
Alley rose to fame in 1987 when she played Rebecca Howe on NBC’s hit series “Cheers.” She won a Golden Globe for Best Actress and an Emmy in the same category in 1991. She later won her second Emmy for her portrayal of Sally Goodson in ‘David’s Mother’ in 1994.
Alley Alley has also appeared on TV shows like ‘Veronica’s Closet’, ‘Fat Actress’, ‘Kirstie and Scream Queens’. In 2010, her life was chronicled on the A&E reality show ‘Kirstie Alley’s Big Life’.
