The Los Angeles Lakers won their game in New York this Sunday against the Brooklyn Nets (104-116) with 40 points from LeBron James, who scored 9 triples out of 10 attempts.

The one from Akron was 13 of 17 in field goals (76.5%), but with his 90% in triples he was especially successful from the three-point line. Additionally, he collected 7 rebounds and distributed 5 assists.

The Lakers (42-33) were ahead on the scoreboard from start to finish of the game (with 11-31 in the first quarter) and at the start of the second half they achieved a maximum difference of +26 (51-77).

But the Nets (29-46) were close to giving the Angelenos a scare by approaching the start of the fourth quarter to just 8 points (82-90). The Lakers, however, knew how to stop them in time.

LeBron James was complemented by Anthony Davis with 24 points and 14 rebounds and Rui Hachimura with 20 points and 10 rebounds, both with double-doubles.

Cam Thomas stood out for the Nets with 30 points and 6 assists.

LeBron surpassed Michael Jordan as the player with the most games of 30 or more points in NBA history.

James reached the number of 672 games with 30 or more points. Jordan finished with 671 and are the only two players with 600 or more 30-point games.

“El Rey” added his 78th game with 40 units or more. The last one had been on March 16 when he scored 40 in a 121-128 loss to Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors.

How are the Los Angeles Lakers’ postseason hopes?

With their victory in Brooklyn, the Lakers remain ninth in the Western Conference in play-in position, but increasingly closer to the Sacramento Kings (43-31) and the Phoenix Suns (42-31).

The Los Angeles Lakers have only seven games left in the regular season. The Lakers’ schedule is as follows:

  • Raptors vs. Lakers – 4/2/2024
  • Wizards vs. Lakers – 4/3/2024
  • Lakers vs. Cavaliers – 4/6/2024
  • Lakers vs. Timberwolves – 4/7/2024
  • GS Warriors vs. Lakers – 4/9/2024
  • Grizzlies vs. Lakers – 12/4/2024
  • Pelicans vs. Lakers – 4/14/2024

The games against the Golden State Warriors and the New Orleans Pelicans will be direct duels to seek qualification for the Playoffs if they want to avoid the Play-In.
