Connecticut Police reported that prevented a man from drowning two children on a beach in the early hours of this Saturday morningafter being discovered by his agents.

The West Haven Police Department said in a post on the social networks that in the early hours of this Saturday their agents observed a truck parked on a beach in that city and heard screams coming from the water.

Officers discovered a man and two small children were in the water. When one of the agents wanted to help and entered the water The man dragged the children out to sea and yelled at the police to “stay back.”

“It was obvious at this point that the man… was deliberately drowning his children,” police said of the suspect who was with the children almost 90 meters from the shore.

The agents and rescuers were able to rescue the children and took custody of the subject identified as Romney Desronvil, 41, resident of New York.

According to the police The two children are children of the suspect and were taken to a hospitalwhere they remain in intensive care.

“Without a doubt, the quick response of our patrol officers saved the lives of these children,” the authorities added.

Desronvil remains in custody and has not yet been charged as the investigation continues.
