Mercedes-Benz recalls more than 9,000 S-Class and EQS models due to taillight failure

Mercedes Benz is recalling just over 9,156 S-Class and EQS-Class models from 2021 and 2022 due to concerns that a software bug will disable much of the vehicle鈥檚 rear lighting, potentially leading to a crash.

What effects does the taillight problem have on these models?

The problem seems to affect turn signals, hazard lights and reverse lightand the brake and taillights are not affected. Fortunately, the fix for this problem is quite simple and only involves a software update.

Repair for free from May

This recall, like all recalls, will be performed by your Mercedes-Benz dealer free of charge. The automaker hopes to start notifying owners of affected vehicles by mail around May 13.
