Andreína Martínez, Miss Dominican Republic, was received in her country to the rhythm of merengue after her participation in Miss Universe, where he stayed with the title of second finalist. The Dominican had a great welcome at the airport with this traditional music from her land, dances and many people who applauded in her honor.
Martínez did not miss the opportunity to dance with the public that attended to receive her with Dominican Republic flags.
After the contest, the Dominican expressed everything she felt at that moment through her Instagram account: “I still try to find the exact words to express everything I feel. It’s been a long road. From the beginning I dreamed of making the Dominican Republic well represented and I feel that it was. Mission accomplished. I wholeheartedly appreciate the unconditional support I received from each one of you, I appreciate that you have defended me tooth and nail because that filled me with motivation,” he said at the beginning.
“Reaching Miss Universe after everything that happened and reaching that top 3 for me is a huge pride, every time I hear “Dominican republic” I still get goosebumps, what a joy that they enjoyed this experience with me, I know we were close to the second one, but at this moment knowing that my intentions from that beginning were appreciated and supported fill me with joy,” he continued.
The election of the sovereign of universal beauty was involved in controversy. The winner was R’Bonney Gabriel, Miss United States, over Amanda Dudamel from Venezuela.
Thousands of people around the world expressed their dissatisfaction with the election of the American as queen, as they believed that the title should be for the Venezuelan without any doubt.
“The truth is that no one was happy for her, we all loved Venezuela,” “Which everyone wanted the photo with her? The best contestants were the girls from the Dominican Republic and Venezuela”, “That was all a fraud, the crown was from Venezuela, that was the only sovereign of the night,” “The winner is the Venezuelan, by God”, “Incredible things will come to Amanda, you’ll see guys! I will never get over that night” and “Nobody got emotional, by God, the one that had to win was Venezuela”.
