New England Revolution sends a warning to the Águilas del América: “Here they are going to suffer” – La Opinion

The Eagles of America received a warning this Monday ahead of the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup that they will be playing on Tuesday at the home of the New England Revolution, the team of the MLS who hopes to make it difficult for one of the main favorites.

In the press conference prior to the match that will take place at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough in Massachusetts, the captain of New England, Carles Gil, issued the warning for the current Mexican soccer champion who will seek to strike the first blow in the tie which will be defined next week.

The Spanish midfielder from the MLS team considers that the factor of travel and exhaustion can work against the Águilas del América who arrive at this event after having achieved a victory against Atlético San Luis with which they went on to command the Tournament Closing 2024.

“It is true that there will always be a difference due to the trip, the weather and so on. “They always tend to suffer when they come to the United States and we when we go to Mexico, but in the end it is a two-legged tie and we hope that (at home) we get a big advantage.”Gil commented at the press conference.

Although the European player showed the desire in New England to continue his path in this edition of the Concachampions, he is also aware that the Águilas del América are favorites in this series as well as in the competition.

“We obviously know that they are a good team, that they are favorites to win the tournament, but we know that we are going to have our options, that here at our house they are going to suffer and we are focused on trying to make sure that they are not too comfortable”continued the Spanish midfielder.

“We want to hurt them to get a good advantage over Mexico”added Carles Gil, referring to the second leg of the quarterfinals that will be taking place at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City next Tuesday, April 9.

The New England Revolution will have a far from easy task to get a good result against the Mexican team since the American team is not going through its best moment in the 2024 Major League Soccer season where they are in last place in the Eastern Conference .

The team led by Caleb Porter has not yet won in the local championship after five games played in which they have only one draw and four losses. Their most recent victory was on March 6 in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Concachampions against Alajuelense (4-0).
