Pachuca became the new leader of Liga MX after the 1-0 victory against Cruz Azul and snatched first place from Tigres UANL.
Erick Sánchez decided the duel of the eleventh day of the championship with which the Tuzos reached eight wins, a draw, a loss and 25 points, two more than the UANL Tigers. The sky blues of Peruvian coach Juan Reynoso are in fifth place with 19 units.
The two teams had arrivals at the start of the game until in the 19th minute, in a play started by Kevin Álvarez, the Tuzos took advantage with Sánchez’s goal.
Pachuca stood up well, despite which the Blues had opportunities to equalize, the clearest in the 70th minute, when Santiago Giménez made a rude mistake; he shot into the undefended goal and the ball went over the top.
At the moment in which the Blues insisted on the attack, they were left with one man less due to the expulsion of Paraguayan Escobar, in minute 86 for a double warning. Even so, Cruz Azul insisted on attacking, but Pachuca maintained the defensive order and added three points.
The Tigres UANL had become this Saturday the momentary leader of the 2022 Liga MX Closing Tournament in the best way, with a 2-0 win over Monterrey in the Clásico Regio or Classic of the North. Tigres reached seven wins, two draws, one loss and 23 points, two less than Pachuca and one above Puebla.
The day began Thursday with Querétaro’s 2-1 victory over San Luis with goals from Ángel Sepúlveda and Argentine Leonardo Sequeira. For San Luis discounted the Spanish Unaí Bilbao.
The day will conclude this Sunday with the América-Toluca matches, Atlas-Guadalajara, Mazatlán-León and Tijuana-Juárez FC.
