Norman Reedus Says New Spinoff Will Reboot Daryl Dixon

Norman Reedus has already started shooting the new spinoff of “The Walking Dead”. As you may recall, the series ended with Daryl Dixon, one of his most popular characters, riding away on his motorcycle. Although this ending does not reveal his path, it is known that the character will resurface in France, where the derivative takes place.

From the beginning it was said that “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon”, as the production is titled, will be very different from the original zombie fiction. Something that its protagonist now confirms to the entertainment portal Entertainment Weekly.

“We already wrapped up three weeks of shooting,” Norman Reedus told EW. «We have three weeks ready, and how is it going? It’s great! Everyone involved in this is very excited about what we’re doing. It’s so epic in scale, and the tone is so good and different and moody, the 53-year-old noted.

The artist highlights that moving the story to Europe gave a new air to the story, which totally separates it from “The Walking Dead.” “There is history in the story. On the walls around us. There is history in the sound of it all. It’s a very different feeling. It has the things you want from the series, but it’s just picked up and put in another dimension,” he said without giving plot details.

The actor clarifies, yes, that although the spinoff remains in the universe of “The Walking Dead”, this does not mean that it is exactly a continuation of its history. “It’s a reboot. You learn a lot after 12 years of doing a show, and there are certain paths that you inevitably have to go down because there’s such a large cast. We don’t really have that there. It’s like a new beginning for us, with all the things we loved to do, and just a whole lot more,” he noted.

Like Daryl, Norman Reedus struggles to adjust to a new environment and a new language. “People speak French all around me, and part of my story is that I’m trying to figure out ‘is this good or is it bad? Are we about to get into a fight or are we friends right now?’” he said.

“I’m trying to lip read the language I don’t understand and I’m reading body language. Reading the tone. I’m reading all kinds of stuff, and it’s confusing, but I’m figuring it out. I figure out how to get out of this and how to get to the next step. It’s all part of the story. Is rare? Yeah, it’s weird, but that’s the show we’re doing. It works very well,” she noted.
