North Korea fired at least four multiple rocket launchers into the Yellow Sea (called the West Sea in the two Koreas) on Sunday (03.20.2022), a South Korean military source confirmed.

The launches were spaced over an hour and began around 7:20 a.m. local time (22:20 GMT on Saturday) from the province of South Pyongan (central country) and the projectiles fell into the sea.

Although this test does not represent a violation of the resolutions imposed by the UN as punishment for the North Korean nuclear and missile program, the South Korean National Security Council (NSC) met today after the launches, reports the Yonhap news agency.

鈥淭his morning there have been launches that are believed to correspond to a North Korean multiple rocket launcher. Our military is in a vigilant posture and monitoring related activity,鈥 the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said in a statement sent to journalists.

In recent weeks, the Pyongyang regime has carried out three launches that Seoul and Washington consider to be seeking to test systems for a new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) with greater range and destructive power, the Hwasong-17.

The third of these tests, carried out on March 16, was unsuccessful, with the projectile exploding before reaching a height of about 20 kilometers.
