One dead and at least seven injured in shooting at a nightclub in Louisville, Kentucky – La Opinion

Authorities reported that One man was killed and seven other people were injured in a shooting early Saturday at a nightclub in Louisville, Kentucky..

Officers received a call around 12:47 a.m. about shots fired outside the H20 club. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.

The man, who was later identified as Joseph D. Bowers of Indianapolis, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services, The Associated Press reported.

A second unidentified victim was rushed to University Hospital. with injuries believed to be critical and life-threatening, according to LMPD.

Six other victims with non-life-threatening injuries were also taken to the hospital.

Club H20, located at 25th and Broadway, decided to close after the shooting, the Louisville Courier Journal reported, citing a statement from the Louisville Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control.

“This decision, made in light of our shared concerns for public safety, gives them time to mourn the tragic loss of their employee while ensuring the well-being of the community,” the statement states.

“The relationship of the victims, if any, is unknown at this time,” they added.

The investigation is ongoing.
