The surprises continue at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. After Saudi Arabia’s victories against Argentina and Japan over Germany on the first day of the tournament, this Sunday there were two other results that broke the pool, since, against all odds , Costa Rica defeated Japan and Morocco defeated Belgium.

Costa Rica vs. Japan

In the first game of the day, the Costa Ricans gave the bell by beating the Japanese, the same team that had defeated Germany days before and that arrived as the broad favorite for the match. However, despite dominating for practically the entire game, the Japanese failed to open the bolt for the Central Americans and, after a defensive error, in the only dangerous play that the Concacaf team had, they liquidated the Asians.

It was in the 81st minute, when Japan was pressing the most, that Keysher Fuller shot from outside the area and placed the ball in the upper left corner. The goalkeeper managed to touch the ball, but was unable to prevent his frame from falling.

In this way, the Ticos overcame the 7-0 win that Spain gave them in their first game and recovered the illusion of advancing to the next phase of the tournament, since now they have ample possibilities to do so and depend on themselves, since with a victory against Germany they would make their dream come true.

Belgium vs. Morocco

In the second game of the day the next bell came, in the surprise victory of the Moroccan team over their Belgian counterpart, who achieved it after 24 years without winning a World Cup match.

The score was 0-2, but in the end there could be a three difference. During the game, the Moroccans erased the Belgians from the field, who looked nervous and even fearful at certain moments. For them it was a set of inaccuracies that led to a defeat and compromising their pass to the next round.

The goals came from Abdelhamid Sabiri, who took advantage of a mistake by goalkeeper Courtois and sent the ball into the back of the net, and Zakaria Abouhlal, who sealed the game in stoppage time.
