Downey Sr. was a peculiar underground filmmaker, with little success and also addicted to drugs for much of his life.. Later she admitted his irresponsibility for giving his then six-year-old son drugs, which is understandable in his chaotic lifestyle. He also taught her X movies and even the films he directed, not suitable for children.
It was “growing up in a family where everyone used drugs”recalls Downey Jr., who had already made his acting debut at the age of five in his father’s film Pound (1970).
Downey Jr. gained fame for Chaplin (1992), a performance for which he won a BAFTA and was nominated for an Oscar. Soon after, hell: cocaine, heroin and marijuana use, arrests, rehabs.
Today, one of the highest paid actors in the world has been sober for 20 years and is a complete survivor, a paradox of what was a disastrous education, is deduced from the documentary.
