Roberto “Manos de Piedra” Durán is in serious health since he is going through a complication after suffering a “Complete Atrioventricular Complete AV Block,” Durán’s family reported this Friday on their social networks.

“The Durán family reports that our champion suffered a health complication due to Complete Atrioventricular Complete AV Block. We are waiting for results so we can later share more information about his health,” the family members shared on social networks.

Mauricio Sulaimán Jr. also joined in words of encouragement for the former Panamanian boxer during this difficult and delicate moment of health.

“The legendary champion, one of the best in history, Roberto Manos de Piedra Durán is in the hospital in Panama with a heart condition. His family joins the world in prayers for his successful and speedy recovery, he is a Champion and he is going to win this fight,” said the WBC leader on his Instagram account.

Sulaimán took the opportunity to ask fans for understanding after the cancellation of an event where they expected to meet the Panamanian champion on March 17.

Durán, a member of the boxing Hall of Fame, is recognized worldwide as the best lightweight (135 pounds) of all time, and also widely cataloged by sportswriters as one of the best pound for pound in the entire history of boxing.

The Panamanian fighter, who also entered the bantamweight, featherweight, superfeatherweight, lightweight, welterweight, superwelterweight, middleweight and supermiddleweight divisions, finished his career with a professional record of 103-16 with 70 wins by knockout.

Durán is famous for his aggressive style and devastating punch. Some of his most memorable matches include his victory over Ken Buchanan. in 1978 to capture the lightweight title, his trilogy with Sugar Ray Leonard in the 1980s, and his victory over Marvin Hagler in 1983 to become middleweight champion.
