Telemundo has been made with the exclusive rights of the retransmission in Spanish of the matches of the United States men’s and women’s national soccer teamsthe American television channel announced on Tuesday.
The NBCUniversal – Telemundo agreement, which begins on January 17 with the broadcast of the friendly between the women’s teams of the United States and New Zealand, will allow broadcast more than 20 games a year through the Telemundo, Universo and Peacock channels as well as the digital platforms of Telemundo.
NBCUniversal Telemundo has the rights to broadcast the matches of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and the 2026 Men’s World Cup, which will be held in Mexico, the United States and Canada.
NBCUniversal Telemundo said in a statement that the narrator of the games will be the historic Argentine-American sports commentator Andrés Cantor, winner of six Emmy awards.
The analyst Manuel Sol, the sports journalist Miguel Gurwitz and the presenters Ana Jurka and Carlota Vizmanos will work alongside Cantor.
Beau Ferrari, president of NBCUniversal Entreprises, said he wants the association with the American Soccer Federation to “drive” the growth of the sport in the United States and that the agreement “will be a cornerstone” of its product portfolio.
For her part, the president of the American Soccer Federation, Cindy Parlow Cone, pointed out that the agreement comes at a “special moment for soccer in the United States” and that it will allow the country’s players and teams to “highlight”.
