The US government is preparing the evacuation of Americans in Haiti on a charter flight – La Opinion

The United States government reported Saturday that it is organizing a charter flight from Haiti to the United States for those who have valid passports and wish to be evacuated, due to the wave of violence in the country.

The State Department’s scheduled flight will depart from Cap-Haitien International Airport, which can only accommodate limited travel amid violence in the country.

The Department of State instructed eligible citizens and family members interested in traveling to the US. to complete an admission form.

Authorities warned that the trip from Port-au-Prince, the country’s capital, to Cap-Haitien it is dangerous” and recommended that people consider the flight “only if you believe you can get to Cap-Haitien airport safely.”

At the moment The US government cannot provide ground transportation to the airportthe State Department said, but is working “on options for departures from Port-au-Prince.” The airport and the capital are about 120 miles away.
