This Sunday marks seven days since the start of the search for suspect who Chicago police believe shot and killed Hispanic officer Luis Huesca last week, and for which they offer a $100,000 reward.

An arrest warrant was issued Friday for Xavier L. Tate Jr., a 22-year-old Aurora resident. the Chicago Police Department reported in a release published on social networks.

Tate faces a charge of first-degree murder for the April 21 shooting that took place shortly before 3 a.m. in the 3100 block of West 56th Street in the Gage Park neighborhood.

The suspect remains at large and police said should be considered armed and dangerous.

Huesca was driving home, still in uniform, when he was shot at least 20 near his family’s home in Gage Park. Sources tell FOX32 Chicago that a firearm with a “switch” attached is believed to have been used to convert it into an automatic weapon.

Huesca’s vehicle was stolen during the incident and found nearby shortly afterward, Fox News Digital previously reported, although police did not confirm whether the shooting was part of a carjacking.

The officer’s service weapon and badge were not found at the scene.sources told the Chicago Sun-Times.

On Monday, police released a two-minute surveillance video showing the suspect entering convenience stores and outside on a sidewalk.

Tate was previously arrested for trespassing at a residence on March 6 in Olympia Fields, FOX32 reported, citing court documents. He was supposed to appear in court in that case on Wednesday.

The police have announced a reward combined $100,000 for information leading to Tate’s arrest and conviction. The money is provided by Crime Stoppers, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the FBI and the Fraternal Order of Police.

Huesca served with the Chicago Police Department for six years. On Tuesday he would have celebrated his 31st birthday.
