Vergil Ortiz Jr. and José Ramírez promote billboard in April with farmers in California – La Opinión

José Ramírez and Vergil Ortiz Jr. visited farm workers and were present at the press conference held in Fresno, California, to promote the doubleheader on Saturday, April 27 where the Cuban will face Rances Barthelemy and the Mexican-American will face Thomas Dulorme at the Save Mart Center.

In the company of Óscar De La Hoya, president and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, the fighters spoke to members of the press, and visited local farms that help feed the nation. Ramírez, who will make his debut at the promoter, expressed his gratitude for starring on the billboard.

“I feel very blessed to be here. I want to thank my team, Golden Boy, my sponsors and my family for supporting me. I am very happy that we can bring an event of this level to Fresno. I am proud to represent my home in the Central Valley. We want to be able to highlight this area and show the world that we have some of the hardest working workers. People here who feed the world,” Ramírez said.

“I have been training hard for five weeks at Riverside with Robert Garcia, and there are less than 4 weeks until fight night. I can’t wait to see everyone come out for my first fight with Golden Boy“he added.

For his part, Vergil Ortiz Jr. stressed that he wants to stay active after debuting at 154 pounds with a knockout victory over Fredrick Lawson after a year and five months inactive due to complications with rhabdomyolysisa disease that was diagnosed in March 2022.

“I am very excited to fight for the first time in Fresno. I spent some time here during my recovery and loved it here. I’m excited to be back. I want to stay active; I want to fight at least four times this year. Being Ramírez’s co-main event is an honor, we are facing the beginning of my career. I know. I am close to a world championship fight and I hope that happens this year,” he stated.

Vergil Ortiz Jr., 24, returned to action in style by winning and wants to get closer to a world title fight by beating Thomas Dulorme. The Mexican American boxer maintains his undefeated record after 20 fights, all won by knockout in his professional career.

On the other hand, José Ramírez, 31, was a unified super lightweight champion and now wants to become a two-division champion with the help of Golden Boy Promotions. The American He has a record of 28 victories (18 by knockout) and one setback in his professional career.
