Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller, the wife of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, reported that She and her son are in isolation after the president’s COVID-19 infection.
“As a precaution, Jesus and I have isolated ourselves too (We have no contagion at this time or symptoms) and we are sure that this virus will soon leave home, ”Gutiérrez Müller, who rejects the title of first lady, wrote on his Facebook.
The announcement comes after it was revealed this Monday that Andrés Manuel López Obrador is infected for the second time with COVID-19 after almost a year of having contracted the disease for the first time.
The contagion has caused controversy because the president appeared on Monday in his daily conference with symptoms of a cold, after last week he refused to be tested for COVID-19 despite having met with the Secretary of Economy, Tatiana Clouthier, who tested positive on Friday.
Gutiérrez Müller, who is a writer and researcher, agreed with her husband to minimize the disease.
“We listen to the health authorities and therefore we are certain that this Omicron variant appears almost like a common flu. I want to ask you not to panic. Drink lots of water, eat well and above all, strengthen your mind: fear enters us if we make room for it ”, he said.
The writer reported that “the president has dawned better” with “all the strength that has characterized him, with good spirits and the desire for a speedy recovery.”
“Thanks to all those who have sent their good wishes, from Mexico and from other countries. It’s a great incentive! ”, He said.
