Cristian “Chicote” Calderón has earned his position in América with good performance and now affirms that he has love for the club, despite having worn the colors of Chivas.
Calderón said that wearing the colors of the Águilas is something that gives him joy and excitement.
“The change was nice and important for me. Being on this side gives me joy and excitement, I think that’s what I’ve done since I’ve been here.. Working day by day, week by week, I have been earning the opportunity to have more minutes. In the end the applause is what I have been doing, I always respected the fans If they accepted me or not, I have to win them on the field and that is important for me and the institution,” he commented.
Calderón has 12 games played out of a possible 15 and also 2 assists in Liga MX. For the defender, how well the team received him after his transfer to América has been key.
“In the end it is important to reach a team where they receive you well. The day they arrived everyone welcomed me and that made me feel part of the team.but now I realize that it is a family because game by game you can see that union to get the results,” he explained.

América is in first place in the Liga MX table and this weekend they will face the Pumas in the Clásico Capitalino.
For Calderón it is an important classic and whoever makes the fewest mistakes will be the one who wins.
“It’s a Classic and that’s how we live it. We already had to face Chivas and Cruz Azul. Although we only had one win in the League in those Clásicos, it is important now to go out and win and obviously be up there. We are going step by step and at the end of the day the one who does things better will win,” he said.
A clear objective that the América defender has is to wear the Mexico national team shirt and he affirms that if he continues working hard, he will be able to achieve it.
“Who wouldn’t like to represent the National Team, to be there? Playing important games and wearing the National Team shirt is nice And why not dream about the National Team and look for a place? I have to work day by day and that will happen,” said ‘Chicote’.
