A Colombian who was extradited on Wednesday, April 17 from Chile to the United States will appear today in a Miami court for the charges of “assault and kidnapping” of two US Army soldiers, whom they drugged in a bar in Bogotá to rob them, reported this Thursday the US Department of Justice.

Pedro José Silva Ochoa, known as ‘Tata’, 47, will appear in court in the Southern District of Florida before Judge Jonathan Goodman.

The Colombian is accused of “kidnapping, conspiracy and assault on an internationally protected person.” If convicted, he could be sentenced to a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

In March 2022, the two victims attended a soccer match in Bogotá, Colombia, and then went to a pub, where one of Silva Ochoa’s accomplices put drugs, including benzodiazepines, in the drinks, a statement said.

Next, The criminals kidnapped the two soldiers who were on temporary duty in Bogotá, put them in a car driven by Silva Ochoa and took their wallets, credit and debit cards, and mobile phones.

The man extradited to the United States and his accomplices used a credit card and another debit card belonging to the two soldiers to “make purchases and withdraw money” from an ATM.

“The two victims lost consciousness until the next day,” the statement added.

One of the accomplices, Jeffersson Arango Castellanos, was already extradited from Colombia to the United States in April 2023 and in January he pleaded guilty to the indictment charges.

FBI agents investigated the case and escorted Silva Ochoa from Chile to the United States.
