El Tri completed its preparation path for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The cold numbers establish a new defeat for the Mexican team after Sweden beat them 1-2 in a friendly match. But Gerardo Martino is not carried away by the results and assured that, due to the performance of Mexico, his team will have a good World Cup.
Alexis Vega’s goal was not enough to give El Tri victory. Despite the fact that the Europeans took the win, the statistics of the game indicate a obvious Mexican supremacy during the match. Gerardo Martino’s selection tripled his rival’s shots on goal, but could not specify. Nonetheless, Tata leaves satisfied.
“I leave with the feeling that we are going to compete very well, I go into the locker room and everyone talks about football, everyone in this. I say it from the beginning, from the inside there is a stage, another that from the outside, We are going to compete very well, I know that”, said the Argentine strategist at a press conference.
Gerardo Martino spoke about his future with Mexico
It seems like an open secret Gerardo Martino will leave the Mexican National Team at the end of the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Tata was questioned about this situation and his response was not concrete at all. Nevertheless, the “buts” of the Argentine could insinuate that his departure would be imminent.
“Actually I have no head that is not in the World Cup, what may be here or there, it seems unfair on my part to distract myself, then we got here in a way, I can be excited, but I cannot be oblivious to what is happening outside. Yes, even though I don’t agree, what happens in the World Cup is decisive, even accessing places where it was never reached, but that does not guarantee continuity, the projection of what I think covers up to the last way”, explained Martino.
