After America had two stumbles in three games and one of them quite unfortunate for the team and its fans, Jonathan dos Santos He denied that it was a crisis, but simply justified it by saying that “this is football.”

In less than 10 days, América suffered two painful defeats, the first against Pumas, one of its staunch rivals, on matchday 16 of the Liga MX, but the second was the one that affected them the most, since it was in the semifinal of the Concacaf Champions Cup by 2-1 and 3-2 on aggregate against Pachuca, in the tournament that gave them the ticket for the next edition of the Club World Cup.

This is something new for America, since before this They had only had six defeats since André Jardine took over as coach, almost a year and a half ago.

However, Jonathan dos Santos does not consider this to be a mini-crisis for the Águilas, but rather thinks it is normal, because “that’s football.”

Very sad, very hurt, but this is football. We knew what we were at stake, we wanted to make history. It hurts us a lot, because we know the team we are in, the demands we have game by game. Our goal was to reach the two finals, it couldn’t be, Now more than ever we must be together as a team, A Liguilla is coming and we have to look for the championship“, declared Jonathan dos Santos in an interview for El Universal.

And far from pointing to a possible crisis in America, dos Santos praised his rival’s ability and acknowledged that they surpassed them on the field.

“The teams also play. Pachuca played a great game both in the first leg and in the second leg, they have great players and congratulations, They deserve it, but I don’t think it’s a pothole, it’s football, “both in life and professionally, in these cases we have to turn the page as soon as possible,” concluded the Mexican.

For América, the adventure in the Concachampions ended, but in the league they finished the regular phase of the Apertura 2024 as super leaders, with which they obtained their direct ticket to the Liguilla, where they will face the team that is in 8th place in the quarterfinals. Once the games are defined repechagewhere are they Pumas, Pachuca, Querétaro and Necaxa.
