Kazumasa Habu says goodbye to Digimon Story marking the end of an era

Digimon Storyvideo game saga based on the successful franchise of Digimon, has just lost an important person involved in its development and evolution over time. And the legendary producer Kazumasa Habu announced a few hours ago, through X (Twitter), his definitive departure from the division that was once the cradle of his greatest ideas. Likewise, he thanked the great support he received during all this time and urged fans to be attentive to the news that will come in the following months.

A fan’s goodbye – Digimon Story

There was always a consensus that all Digimon fans could agree on and that was the relevance that Haru had in keeping afloat a saga that did not always have the success that was expected, even going through delays and cancellations of various kinds. . The first works of Kazumasa date from 2010 and among these stand out: Digimon Story: Lost Evolution, Digimon Story: Super Xros Wars Blue and Red and the praised Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and DLC which was named after Hacker’s Memory.

That is why, and given his long career, the Ex-Producer himself decided to share a few words through his account on the social network video game:

Due to personnel changes within Bandai Namco Entertainment, I will no longer be a producer of Digimon-based games.

In reality, I have not exercised that role since April of last year and I have passed the baton silently since that date. However, rest assured that the new Digimon Story game will continue in development under its new Director and trusted team.

Next, Haru would personally appreciate all the support and affection that the fans gave him upon hearing this news:

Seeing myself involved in the Digimon universe and being able to experience the enthusiasm of the fans became my most precious treasure. I would like to thank everyone who loved our work over time; I appreciate it very much! and don’t forget to continue supporting Digimon!

After learning this, many fans began to question the reasons that led Kazumasa Haru to cease his participation in the saga. Some noted the constant delays and not-so-positive reception of Digimon Survive as the cause of this while others claimed that it could even be due to the low sales of other franchises produced by Bandai Namco that would have caused all this restructuring.

Finally, it is not a secret that Digimon is going through a critical moment. Currently, there is no anime on broadcast related to the franchise, the manga that was broadcast was cancelled without clear justification and the merchandising as distinctive of the saga as the Vital Bracelet They do not seem to be in the current sales plans, the only commercial success being the TCG based on the saga.

But even with all this, there are many who hope that Digimon get back on track as a product and be able to continue giving us new adventures based on this work that dazzled many since its premiere and that remains afloat thanks to its staunchest fans.
