Like Hannibal Lecter: this is how the convict who attacked a judge in the US reappeared

Nevada Judge Mary Kay Holthus has been trending since assault defendant Deobra Redden lost her mind and sanity after receiving a sentence of between 19 months and 48 months in prison. He reappeared to receive a new sentence, but he did so with an appearance that caught the attention of more than one.

On January 3, Deobra Redden was expecting to receive house arrest as a sentence. When she did not receive it, she attacked Judge Holthus, a video that went around the world and further harmed the young convict.

Redden was summoned on Monday to receive the sentence again, only on that occasion another judge from the Las Vegas District Court was the one who handed down the same sentence.

Redden chained and muzzled

The striking thing was that, for said sentence, he came surrounded by guards, muzzled and chained at the arms and legs. This image went viral, because the US authorities did not risk another sudden attack happening again.

“I want to be clear that I am not going to change or modify the sentence that I was in the process of imposing last week before I was interrupted by the defendant’s actions,” Judge Holthus said.

Local media Fox News 5 Las Vegas reported that the convict’s sister and adoptive mother explained that Redden suffers from schizophrenia and was not taking his medication when he attacked Judge Mary Kay.

More charges for assault against Judge Holthus

After last Monday’s hearing, Fox 5 Las Vegas reported that Nevada prosecutors added new charges against Redden, where the most notable accusation is the attempted murder of an elderly person, this after his attack on Judge Holthus.

The serious thing for Redden is that he not only faces that charge, but also five other new accusations, which puts him in a very delicate situation, since in total he faces 12 charges.

Said media indicated that Redden’s legal situation will be clarified on February 14 at 9 a.m.
