Quentin Tarantino cancels “The Movie Critic”, which would be his last film – El Diario NY

Director Quentin Tarantino canceled his film ‘The Movie Critic’, which was to mark his tenth and final production, due to apparent creative differences. According to Variety, sources close to the director said that he will not seek to rewrite the script or revive the project, rather, will plan something new.

For its part, the Deadline portal reported that the decision has been made but there are still no explanations or foundations for this change of opinion regarding a project that seemed quite advanced and even had almost confirmed Brad Pitt as the protagonist to make a new collaboration with Tarantino after they worked together on the successful film ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’.

The announcement immediately surprised those who discounted that The Movie Critic’s script was practically finished (after some rewrites that delayed the project’s originally planned start) and expected filming to begin sometime this year.

In May of last year, during the last Cannes Film Festival, Quentin Tarantino had announced that the film was going to be set in California in 1977 and was inspired by “a guy who really lived but was never really famous and I used to write movie reviews for an adult magazine”.

Before the filmmaker changed his mind, the production had obtained a tax subsidy of $20 million from the state of California.
