The Mexican Randy Arozarena The goal of having a good 2024 season in the Major Leagues was set, not only on an individual level to surpass what was done in the last campaign but also on a group level to be able to compete in the postseason with the Tampa Bay Rays.

The outfielder spoke with ESPN about his expectations in the campaign that started last Thursday with a loss for the Tampa Bay team against the Toronto Blue Jays with a score of 8 runs to 2 in which Randy Arozarena went blank in four at-bats with a couple of strikeouts.

Beyond that performance, one of the Rays’ figures considered that the work done in Spring Training will allow him to achieve his goal of surpassing his 2023 records and being able to do his part to help Tampa Bay fight in the postseason.

“I have prepared very well to have a much better season than the previous one and also help the team get a ticket to the playoffs”he pointed out Randy Arozarena who last season finished with an offensive average of .254 with 23 home runs and 83 RBIs.

The winner of the Rookie of the Year award in the American League in the 2021 season highlighted that he feels at home in Tampa Bay where he has been received with open arms since his arrival in 2020 and where he has been able to adapt thanks to the great presence of Latin talent on the team.

“There are many countries united here, they are very good. Having many Latinos here has helped me a lot because English is difficult for me, so I can relate to my fellow Latinos, that’s good. They always support me, as I support them. “We are a very united team”said the player of Cuban origin.

Inside the top 100 of the Major Leagues

Randy Arozarena also talked about what it meant to be part of the best 100 players heading into this Major League season. The Tampa Bay Rays outfielder is ranked 54th among all players this season.

“It means a lot to me, it is all the sacrifice I have had in my career from the beginning, that the first steps are what one remembers”considered the Mexican gardener who added: “The team is very well, united. We don’t have that many names, but we have something to do in the game.”.

Tampa Bay began the season with a four-game series at home against the Toronto Blue Jays, whom they will face until this Sunday. Then they will have to host the current World Series champions, Texas Rangers, in a series of three more games.
