One of the reasons that various analysts listed to explain the dominance of the United States over Mexico is related to the use of foreigners in Liga MX. The UANL Tigres are one of the teams that uses the most foreign players. However, Siboldi used MLS clubs as an example to show that this is a myth.
“The system is already changing, it has been changing, the results are that now it is more complicated to win and At the selection level, it is shown that having many foreigners does not mean that the quality of the selection decreases.there are good American players who are playing a great role and playing in important teams and leagues, Every time the MLS is improving and without a doubt it is matching us in level, every day it improves more”, he explained at a press conference.
Even though the American team dominates Concacaf, Robert Dante Siboldi still considers that Liga MX clubs are above those of the MLS. The Concachampions could be an example of this.
“I think so, the evolution is being marked, it is being reflected in each tournament, At the club level we are one step above Liga MX compared to the MLS, but every day it is becoming more complicated”he added.
The UANL Tigers vs. Columbus Crew
Robert Dante Siboldi himself will have the opportunity to demonstrate that Mexican soccer is still one step above the MLS. The UANL Tigers must face Columbus Crew for the second leg of the Concachampions quarterfinals. The series is tied 1-1.
The match will take place this Tuesday, April 9 and the University Stadium will be the scene of this complex meeting. The Uruguayan strategist is aware of the danger of the Columbus Crew, a club that along with Inter Miami were the only ones that really competed in this round.
