Ronald Acuña Jr. receives the worst news. The Venezuelan will miss the entire 2024 season after confirming a torn ligament in his left knee.

“Ronald Acuña Jr. underwent an MRI that revealed a complete rupture of the cruciate ligament in his left knee. He will be scheduled to undergo surgery on a date to be confirmed and will miss the rest of the 2024 season,” the Atlanta team reported.

Acuña Jr. will go through a torn ligament again, but this time in his left knee. In 2021 he suffered this same injury to his right knee at Loan Depot Park in Miami.

How was Ronald Acuña Jr.’s injury?

The Venezuelan suffered the injury during a baserun this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Acuña was on second base and when he tried to return to the base he was pinned and showed clear signs of pain.

Despite the injury, he walked out on his own and it was thought to be a less serious injury.

Acuña Jr. ends his season with a .250 batting average with 48 hits, 4 home runs, 15 RBIs and 38 runs scored in 49 games this season.

The Venezuelan was unable to defend his MVP crown for the entire season. The one from La Sabana will return for the 2025 campaign.

“I’m sorry,” Ronald wrote on social media after learning of the serious injury. “All of Braves Nation is with you,” the team responded.
