Sergio “Checo” Pérez shows his disagreement with the RB20: “The car is not very comfortable for me” – La Opinion

After taking second place in the first two races of the 2024 Formula 1 season, Sergio “Checo” Pérez has shown his disagreement with the RB20the car that the Red Bull team debuts and with which they continue to demonstrate their absolute dominance on the tracks.

The one from Guadalajara has had a great start this year with a couple of good demonstrations that have allowed him to escort his teammate, Max Verstappen in both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, which has allowed the energy drink team to have a dream start.

However, not everything is rosy for “Checo” Pérez, who recently assured that he has shared feelings with the Red Bull carsince although he does not feel completely “comfortable” behind the wheel, he has managed to get the most out of it in these first tests of the season.

“That’s something that’s pretty good for us (car performance). In Bahrain I should have been on the front row, we are talking about a tenth or something like that, so then we sorted things out in the race.”recalled the Mexican who achieved third place in the classification on that occasion.

“We didn’t have the right setup with our set-up and we weren’t good at taking care of the tyre, so my race was basically more against Carlos Sainz than against Max.”noted Sergio “Checo” Pérez about the distance with respect to his teammate, the three-time F1 world champion.

However, the Mexican driver is getting ready for what will be the third race of the season, this weekend at the Australian Grand Prix where “Checo” Pérez hopes to continue his good form and this time give much more fight for keep the front position on the track.

Red Bull satisfied with the improvements to the RB20

The Austrian team is quite happy with the improvements they made to their car compared to the 2023 car with which they gave a class of dominance by winning 1-2 in the drivers’ standings for the first time in their history and staying with 21 victories of 22 races made.

“At the moment the improvements are still there. In terms of magnitude, at the moment we can find gains similar to those of last year. I suspect that towards the end of the year it may slow down a bit, but we have brilliantly creative people and if they find it, we will accept it.”said Paul Monaghan, Red Bull’s chief engineer.
