Stanford University sends the FBI the image of a protester wearing a tape alluding to Hamas – La Opinion

Stanford University officials sent the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) an image of a protester wearing a ribbon alluding to the Islamic group Hamas on his forehead.

While administrative staff at the California-based educational institution tried to control the anti-Israel protesters who were holding a permanent sit-in on their campus, even setting up tents, they noticed an incident that seemed extremely worrying.

Covering his face with a balaclava, a subject protesting against the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, where 34,600 Palestinians have died, He wore a green band on his forehead with phrases written in Arabic alluding to the Islamic group Hamas.

Given the delicate nature of the matter, A photograph was taken which was immediately sent to the FBI. for the purpose of evaluating whether the person in question is actually a suspected member of Hamas or just someone who wants to attract attention.

And the war conflict that developed in the Middle East derived from a surprise attack orchestrated by Hamas against the Jewish nation when it was celebrating the Sukkot holiday, on October 7 of last year, which left 1,200 Israeli citizens dead.

From then on, a true ordeal began for the Palestinians as they were considered complicit in the massacre.

Given the position taken by the Jewish government to prevent supplies of food and basic necessities from entering Gaza, demonstrations have arisen in various parts of the world. where an immediate ceasefire is demanded so that food and medical care can be provided to the affected civilians.

In the United States, protests against Israel have emerged in at least 150 educational institutions that allegedly put Jewish students at risk, as is the case at Stanford, where the highest-level administrative staff issued a statement referring to the outfit worn by the alleged Hamas sympathizer.

“We have received many expressions of concern about a photograph circulating on social media of an individual in White Square who appeared to be wearing a green headband similar to those worn by Hamas members.

We find this deeply disturbing, as the United States government designates Hamas as a terrorist organization.

“We have not been able to identify the individual, but we have sent the photo to the FBI,” the letter states.

About, through a letter to which they add the signatures of 28,000 citizens, a group of Jewish students who study on the Stanford campus express their fear of being attacked at some point by protesters.

“Individuals openly dressing as members of a terrorist organization is unacceptable and must be dealt with quickly and harshly. Failure to do so sets a dangerous standard, since no citizen should have to worry about distinguishing between individuals simply disguised as terrorists and real terrorists seeking to cause us serious bodily harm,” part of the document states.
