Authorities reported that A teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy she met at church in Arkansas.which was once frequented by former President Bill Clinton.
Reagan Gray, 26, was caught earlier this month after it emerged she allegedly had been assaulting the boy since 2020 when she was volunteering at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little RockTHV11 reported.
The boy’s parents discovered a large number of text messages on their son’s phone at the time and reported Gray to a senior pastor at the church, according to court documents.
Gray, who also worked as a teacher at Little Rock Christian Academy, was briefly removed from her volunteer position while receiving counseling after allegedly telling church leaders that the relationship was not “physical.”
Authorities then became involved in February when it was learned that Gray had still been exchanging messages with the teen via Snapchat, according to court documents.
During interviews with federal agents, the teen allegedly said Gray had performed oral sex on him but that they did not have intercourse so he could “remain pure,” according to doctors.
The alleged abuse, which occurred nearly a dozen times, took place in Gray’s car or apartment, the victim alleged.
In a subsequent interview with the FBI, a church leader admitted that Gray had confessed last year during a counseling session that the relationship was sexual.
It was not immediately clear whether the church leader or the victim’s parents alerted investigators to the alleged abuse.
The church leader resigned from his position earlier this month over the handling of the allegations.
Meanwhile, Gray, who now works at Sylvan Hills High School, was placed on administrative leave in February amid the investigation.
She was charged with sexual assault after an arrest warrant was issued. But she was later released on $20,000 bail.
Clinton had made clear how important the Southern Baptist Church was to him when he tearfully thanked the congregation during a morning service days before entering the White House for the first time in 1993.
