The family of A one-year-old boy from Minnesota reported that the child died after falling from the third-story window of a hotel room in South Dakota, in a tragic accident.
Madden Hein succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Monday, two days after falling from the Club House Hotel & Suites in Sioux Falls, his parents, Kathryn and Alex Hein, announced Tuesday.
“It is with great sadness to say that our sweet baby Madden got his angel wings late on April 15th. “We miss him so much and we are having a hard time processing all of this,” the couple wrote in a post on Facebook.
The Heins also revealed that they will donate little Madden’s organs. “His organs will help many other people. “Our little one is a real-life superhero,” they said.
Police are investigating Madden’s death. but Sioux Falls Police Department spokesman Officer Sam Clemens told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that “there is nothing that makes us believe that it was anything other than a tragic accident.”
On Wednesday, a crowd of about 250 people joined Madden’s parents outside Sanford Children’s Hospital, where the boy was to undergo organ donation surgery, KELO reported.
Alex Hein, Madden’s father, is a middle school social studies teacher and high school basketball coach. While her mother, Kathryn Hein, is a kindergarten teacher and helps coach volleyball.
The couple also has a 3-year-old daughter and is expecting another child in August, the Star Tribune reported.
A GoFundMe campaign for the family has raised more than $69,000 as of Thursday.
