Last Friday, around 12:15 pm, a truck moving north on the Clark Memorial Bridge in Kentucky, which crosses the Ohio Riverapparently crossed the lane and crashed into the bridge railing, dangling over the water.
In videos obtained by local media, You can see the trailer of the truck wedged against the beams of the bridge, preventing it from falling into the water. The hood of the truck also opened and was hanging from the cab of the truck.
The cameras captured the dramatic rescue of the truck driver by a lifeguard who descended from a ladder to help the man climb to safety.
The trailer and truck cab, which remained intact during the rescue, bore the name “Sysco,” a food distribution company.
In addition to the truck, Three other vehicles (two cars and a truck) were involved in the accident.. Two people in one of those vehicles were also taken to University of Louisville Hospital.
A Sysco spokesperson praised first responders for their rescue.
“Sysco is enormously grateful to rescue services and law enforcement who quickly and safely resolved the accident at the Clark Memorial Bridge today,” a spokesperson told Fox News Digital in a statement.
“We are grateful that our Sysco colleague is safe and thank first responders for their brave efforts to rescue our driver. Safety is a priority at Sysco and we are cooperating with the police investigation,” he added.
Authorities said a single-vehicle collision caused the truck to cross lanes and ultimately crash into the guardrail.
The Clark Memorial Bridge was closed to traffic while first responders carried out the rescue and later removed the truck from the scene.
The bridge was built in 1929. It has four lanes, two in each direction, with a speed limit of 35 mph.

The firefighter who rappelled down to the driver and took her to safety He was identified as Bryce Carden, 29 years old.which specializes in high angle rescues.
“This guy is probably one of the nicest, happiest guys you’ll ever want to meet in your life, and he’s exactly the right person to put there to try to keep the patient calm,” Louisville Fire Chief Brian O’ Neill, talking about Carden.
O’Neill said this is a “one-of-a-kind” type of rescue.
“This is very much a worst-case scenario and something that is not expected to happen. “This is something that happens once in a career,” he said in statements reported by Fox News.
“All the credit goes here. These are serious heroes. It was really professional, well practiced and well trained. These men and women make me very proud. This motivates me a lot every day,” added the fire chief.
For its part, Carden said he wasn’t nervous because he knew his team had his back. and that the woman was calm and serene.
“I wasn’t nervous at all going over the edge because I knew they had me on top. Once I caught up with her, she was super calm, collected, and she helped me do what I needed to do to get her to safety, essentially. And everything went well, and we will go back to the rooms and prepare to do it again if necessary,” she stated.
“She was praying a lot and I was praying right there with her,” he added.
Carden assured that this rescue operation “exceeds” everything he has done so far in his career.
“We’ve definitely done some crazy things, but yeah, this is the best so far. Like I said, we trained for this situation probably a hundred times, but they actually put it into action. “It felt good,” he said.
