Authorities reported that A 14-year-old Wyoming teen was stabbed to death with a kitchen knife while trying to protect his girlfriend. of two other minors dressed in balaclavas in a shopping center.

Bobby Maher was fatally stabbed after confronting the two 15-year-old boys for allegedly harassing his high school girlfriend at the Eastridge Mall in Casper on Sunday afternoon, Cowboy State Daily reported.

Maher rushed to the mall after his girlfriend called to tell him that the two suspects, since identified as Jarreth Plunkett and Dominique Harris, were allegedly following her and a friend around the location, according to the criminal complaint.

Once he arrived, Maher attempted to get his girlfriend and her friend out of the mall to “keep them safe” while repeatedly telling the two alleged offenders to leave, according to court documents.

Surveillance footage of the ordeal allegedly showed Maher walking away from his alleged attackers, who were wearing balaclava-style hooded masks, as Plunkett told him to “punch him multiple times.”

Then, Harris was allegedly caught on camera picking up Maher by the waist and throwing him to the ground before punching him repeatedly in the face.

Moments later, Plunkett intervened and could be seen plunging the “kitchen knife” into the victim.according to the complaint.

The two suspects quickly fled and allegedly dumped the bloody knife and their ski masks in the parking lot, police said.

After being caught a short time later, the alleged offenders told police that the victim had called them “freaks” and confessed to stealing the knife from a Target inside the mall, the complaint says.

One of Maher’s friends later told police that the two suspects attended Dean High School with the victim and had a confrontation with him about two weeks ago during spring break at a park in Evansville.

Plunkett was charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated assault and battery, and robbery.

While Harris was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, aggravated assault and battery, and misdemeanor robbery.

The alleged perpetrators, who were charged as adults, were given bonds of $500,000 and $450,000, respectively.during an initial court hearing on Monday.
