America tore apart Atlas amid refereeing controversies: 5-1 – La Opinion

The Eagles of America had no compassion for Atlas, who could only hold out for the first 45 minutes and in the end ended up giving in to the superiority of the Americanists. that ended up scoring a clear 5-1 victory, but that was involved in refereeing controversies due to the Arbitration Review System (VAR).

The overwhelming scoreline shows that there was only one team on the field and that was the American eleven, since Atlas, despite its disposition, ended up giving ground to score half a dozen goals in the Coapa team’s 1-5 victory.

The current monarchs of Liga MX were able to recover from a very troubled first few minutes when Atlas took the lead on the scoreboard with Eduardo Aguirre’s goal.

The red-and-blacks simply ran out of gas before the end of the first half, when the biggest controversy of the game occurred, in a penalty by the Peruvian Anderson Santamaría that resulted from a play, where the Chilean Diego Valdés settled the ball with his hand before sending a cross that generated the shot of Henry Martin and the hand of Santamaría.

The penalty was taken again by Henry Martín, who now made no mistake and sent the score to half-time with the score 2-1 in favor of América. The second half looked like a rout and they did not disappoint.

For the second half, the Dutchman Javairo Dilrosun began the string of arrivals to the athlete’s goal, then came Alejandro Zendejas’ goal to make it 3-1. Zendejas himself scored 4-1 in the 81st minute on a corner kick.

While Atlas fell completely, his arrivals to the front in search of América’s goal disappeared until Henry Martin made it 5-1.

Obviously, there was always the doubt in the air as to whether the VAR acted in accordance with the regulations when validating the action of the Chilean Valdés, despite the fact that he placed the ball with his hands and although the rule establishes that this action is accidental, it is not a cause to validate a action as a consequence of it.

But the reality is that at the end of the day there was doubt in the air in this game as to whether the VAR people have enough capacity to correctly judge the plays.

In the previous match against Cruz Azul, América had four goals disallowed to equal a record that had been set in July 2020 when Napoli beat Sassuolo after the latter had four goals disallowed.

That happened in América vs Cruz Azul with which the Águilas only won 1-0 and now against Atlas this review system worked in their favor.
