Armando Archundia stops rumors about his possible departure from the Arbitration Commission – La Opinion

Faced with the version that circulated this Friday in some national sports media about the alleged removal of Armando Archundia of the presidency of the Refereeing Commission of the Mexican Football Federation, the leader himself ruled out that possibility and told La Opinión that they were “fake news”, trying to destabilize the refereeing union.

According to the data collected, it has been unofficially reported that there is a group of former whistlers who seek to return to the Arbitration Commission and for that reason they are supporting the anointing of Francisco Chacón as one of the strongest options to occupy the position of Archundia.

There are even other versions that also ensure that another option is to bring the Argentine Horacio Elizondo who currently heads the Arbitration Commission of Costa Rica.

Regarding this pressure, Archundia himself, in a brief WhatsApp chat with this publishing house, explained that there has always been the desire of several former whistlers to return to command the referees and that obviously the presidency of the Refereeing Commission is a highly coveted objective. .

In the versions that circulated this day it was stated that since last Sunday during the broadcast of the game between Toluca against Tigres it was reported that a group of former referees had started a shock group that was grilling the head of the whistlers, Armando Archundia, at ensure that several Liga MX teams are dissatisfied with their work.

However, no names were given, but after digging up some data and making some calls, including with Archundia himself, it was unofficially known that the pressure is very strong, but that within the Mexican Football Federation, there are no plans to remove the former World Cup referee from his position in Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010.

In World Cup competitions, Archundia directed eight World Cup games, five in Germany 2006 and three in the tournament in the African country in 2010. While in Liga MX he directed more than 590 games, becoming the whistler with the most whistled games in Aztec football. .

Armando Archundia took over the presidency of the Refereeing Commission on June 15, 2022 and since that date he has tried to raise the level of refereeing, especially in the application of the VAR, innovating with the application of audios to publicly know the decisions of the whistlers after reviewing the plays with visual support.

But the reality is that under his management, he has had to deal with many negative aspects, but above all the pressure from the Liga MX teams, who have always felt their interests were affected by the arbitration decisions.
