Badou Jack chooses David Benavídez as his favorite in a possible fight with Canelo Álvarez – La Opinion

Badou Jack, former cruiserweight world champion, chose David Benavídez as his favorite in the possible fight with Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez and mentioned the reasons why he believes the Mexican Monster could win to the Guadalajara.

In an interview for Fight Hype, Jack expressed that Benavídez He is a beast and has the advantage in sizereasons why he believes that Canelo Álvarez has been avoiding this confrontation at all costs.

“Canelo has the experience and is a great fighter, that cannot be overlooked, but there is a reason why I think he has shied away from (Benavídez) a little, maybe not shied away, but he has avoided it. I like Benavídez, he is a beast, but at the same time, maybe Canelo will beat him easily,” said.

“One never knows, but I would give Benavídez as a favorite in that fight, because of its size, because of its volume. That fight would probably go to decision, but it would give Canelo a tough fight, but you never know, it could be the opposite,” he added.

It should be noted that for more than two years David Benavídez has sought in every possible way to attract the attention of the four-division Mexican champion, but he has never had a response. Although fans and many experts in the sport would like to see this great fight, Canelo Álvarez has not shown any real interest and the WBC has not enforced the regulations to order the fight either.

The president of the WBC had declared that the Guadalajara team and Benavídez’s team were in talks, but that they would not intervene until the month of March when the Mexican American will be mandatory and that they would let the promoters do their job. Shortly after it was announced that the Mexican Monster He will rise to 175 pounds to compete for the organization’s interim title against Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Jaime Munguía emerges as Canelo Álvarez’s favorite for May 4.

According to reports, the undisputed 168-pound champion would have resumed talks with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) and they would be negotiating the fight with Munguía in May and Jermall Charlo in September, but the promoter is not very convinced of this fight and the possibility of facing Benavídez could be opened if the WBC orders it.

Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez, 33, showed that He is still at the top and increased his legacy in the sport after beating Jermell Charlo by unanimous decision. The undisputed 168-pound champion has a record of 60 wins (39 by knockout), two losses and two draws in his career.

For his part, David Benavídez, interim WBC super middleweight champion, defeated Demetrius Andrade by technical knockout in the sixth round and will now move up to 175 pounds. The Mexican Monster He has a record of 28 wins, 24 of them on the fast track and no setbacks cas a professional.
