Brandon Moreno announces temporary retirement: The Tijuana native wants to rest from mixed martial arts – La Opinion

The former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno announced his temporary retirement from mixed martial arts through a video that he published on social networks, in which he explained the reasons that made him make this decision.

Although he announced that It will not be a definitive goodbye, but rather a “see you later”the Tijuana fighter made it clear that he needs to take some time to return to aspects of his life that he has neglected to dedicate himself to his professional career, such as his family.

“I’m not saying I’m going to stay away from mixed martial arts 100 percent, but yes. I will take time to rest, to be with my family, live like someone normal and do new thingsdifferent” he mentions in the clip.

The announcement arrived a month after his defeat in the octagon against Brandon Royval on February 24, at the Mexico City Arena.

It’s not goodbye. Wait for me, be patient, it’s waiting for my mind to compose itself to do things right again. The last time I left and came back, I was world champion. I still think that I am an incredible fighter, that I have the qualities, skills and aptitudes to be champion again, but I have taken my mind to a place where I am tired,” he explained, hinting that there will be a return and that he will come back stronger.

Currently, Brandon Moreno is 30 years old. At the time of the announcement of his retirement, he was competing in the UFCthe most important mixed martial arts championship in the world, where He has been world champion twice and from where He is becoming number 2 in the ranking of his division, only below Royyal, who defeated him.
